Why UM Remains Among the World’s Leading Institutions

The University of Mindanao continues to shine on the global stage, securing its place once again in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2025—a prestigious list that now includes 2,526 universities from 130 countries.
After making its debut last year, UM proudly remains among the world’s leading institutions committed to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This year, the university excelled in four specific SDG categories:
SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions
SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth
SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being
SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals

This recognition reaffirms UM’s strong dedication to creating meaningful, measurable impact, empowering communities, fostering partnerships, and promoting inclusive development.
Moreover, the University of Mindanao continuously invests in institutional capacity and innovation, making it a model for inclusive education and good governance. As the largest private university in Mindanao and the only Level IV-accredited autonomous institution in the region, UM leverages its autonomy to design responsive programs, forge global partnerships, and empower underserved communities, solidifying its role as a leader in higher education and sustainable development.
The THE Impact Rankings celebrate universities that align their strategies and operations with the SDGs, using indicators that measure efforts in areas such as energy innovation, responsible production, equity, governance, and global partnerships.
