What's Behind The Alliance Between UM and Kagawa Prefecture and Suntech Industries?

The University of Mindanao, led by President Dr. Guillermo P. Torres, recently held a significant bilateral meeting with high-ranking officials from Kagawa Prefecture, headed by Governor Ikeda Toyohito.

This formal exchange of discussions marks a potential strengthening of academic, cultural, and industry ties between UM and the Japanese region, aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.

Further advancing its international initiatives, the UM delegation also engaged in a productive meeting with Hiromi Aoki, President of Suntech Industries, exploring promising avenues for collaborative partnerships.

Joining Dr. Torres in this strategic mission were Edgardo Castillo, Chief Administrative Officer; Dr. Ronald Amorado, Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs; and Reynaldo Castro, Vice President for International Affairs. These engagements reflect UM’s continued commitment to global linkages and its vision of expanding opportunities for students, faculty, and institutional development.
