University of Mindanao - College of Teacher Education Joins Happy Walk 2024


Smiling faces and hand-in-hand unity! University of Mindanao's College of Teacher Education future educators march for inclusivity at Happy Walk 2024.
Students from the University of Mindanao - College of Teacher Education marched hand in hand during the Happy Walk 2024 in an incredible show of support and unity. These energetic attendees brought a bright energy to the event, representing a variety of fields including Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED), Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (BECED), and Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Special Education (BSNED).
On March 24, 2024, during the vibrant parade from Freedom Park to People's Park, the College of Teacher Education students were distinguished as advocates and rays of compassion. Their presence served as a reminder of how crucial education is in promoting inclusivity, understanding, and acceptance of people with Down syndrome and other different needs.

The students demonstrated compassion and unity as they marched with people with Down syndrome, their families, teachers, volunteers, and friends. They proved their commitment to social responsibility and desire to become future educators supporting diversity and inclusion in the classroom and beyond by actively participating in the Happy Walk.
The University of Mindanao's College of Teacher Education's participation in Happy Walk 2024 is evidence of the transforming power of education in creating a more inclusive society. They exemplify the attitude of empathy and understanding that is important to the Down syndrome awareness movement by embracing diversity and appreciating differences.
These students take the priceless lessons they acquired on the Happy Walk—skills that go well beyond the classroom—as they pursue their careers as teachers. Equipped with a profound sense of social duty, empathy, and compassion, they are well-positioned to significantly impact the lives of people with Down syndrome and other marginalized communities, guaranteeing that each person's voice is heard and their worth is acknowledged. Their participation directly supports SDG 4: Quality Education by promoting inclusive and equitable education, and SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities by advocating for the acceptance and inclusion of individuals with Down syndrome and other diverse needs in society.
