UMAL Camp 2024: Building Leaders, Shaping Futures

The University of Mindanao Ambassadors League (UMAL) Camp 2024 was held at Secret Forest, Sinuda, Kitaotao, Bukidnon, on December 14, 2024. The camp aimed to strengthen the communication skills, teamwork, and leadership capabilities of its participants while also fostering camaraderie among members. A total of 35 students from the University of Mindanao Ambassadors League and the Production Team participated in the event.
A workshop was conducted by the Vice President of External Relations and International Affairs Office, Mr. Reynaldo Castro, focusing on the duties and responsibilities of UMAL members. The discussion highlighted essential skills in delivering effective messages to Grade 12 students and understanding the audience to make presentations more compelling. This session also emphasized the importance of effectively promoting the University of Mindanao to prospective students.

Participants engaged in a "Getting to Know" session, where they introduced themselves and shared their expectations for the UMAL experience. To further promote creativity and teamwork, the participants were divided into groups for the much-anticipated Mr. and Ms. UMAL 2024 competition. Each group selected a representative and was tasked with designing an outfit made from scrap newspaper and tape. Participants also prepared a talent presentation and creatively told the story behind their designs.

The UMAL Camp 2024 successfully achieved its objectives by equipping participants with essential communication skills, promoting teamwork through engaging activities, and fostering a sense of unity among members. Through the workshop, pageant, and team-building exercises, the participants gained valuable experiences that will aid them in their roles as ambassadors of the University of Mindanao. The event was a resounding success, leaving participants inspired and motivated to represent the university with excellence.

Participants were provided with new UM shirts, which they proudly wore for a pictorial and video shoot as part of the marketing campaign for the University of Mindanao’s 2025 merchandise.
