UM Hosts 9th Academic Conferment, Inducts Fulbright Scholar Dr. Bryan McCormick

Davao City, Philippines - The University of Mindanao underscored its commitment to global academic partnerships as it hosted its 9th Academic Conferment and Induction Ceremony, highlighted by the induction of Dr. Bryan McCormick as the 12th Visiting Faculty Exchange Fellow.

Dr. McCormick, a distinguished J. William Fulbright Specialist Scholar from Temple University in Philadelphia, USA, brings extensive expertise in the field of psychology and global perspectives on mental health. His appointment highlights UM’s dedication to fostering international collaboration and knowledge exchange.

The ceremony was attended by UM President Dr. Guillermo P. Torres Jr., along with deans, faculty members, and executive directors, reflecting the university’s strong commitment to academic excellence and global engagement.

Hosted by the Psychology Program under the College of Arts and Sciences Education, Dr. McCormick’s fellowship will focus on advancing discussions and training on global perspectives in mental health, further strengthening UM’s role as a hub for international learning and research.

This initiative supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, specifically SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being, by promoting mental health awareness and interventions; SDG 4: Quality Education, by enhancing academic growth and research opportunities; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, by fostering international academic collaboration that bridges local and global expertise.
