Ulticon Builders, Inc. and UM Seals Power Partnership For a Better Future

The University of Mindanao and Ulticon Builders, Inc. (UBI) formally signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) at the UM Matina campus yesterday, July 23, marking a strategic partnership that brings the academe and industry closer together. The ceremony was attended by key leaders from both institutions and emphasized shared values of innovation, excellence, and nation-building.
This partnership strengthens UM’s commitment to producing industry-ready graduates by aligning academic programs with real-world industry practices. Through this MOA, students will gain greater access to internships, immersion opportunities, job openings, and hands-on learning guided by UBI’s industry expertise, bridging the gap between theory and application.

Representing UM in the signing are the President and CEO, Dr. Guillermo P. Torres, Jr, and SVP for Academic Affairs, Dr. Ronnie V. Amorado, while UBI is represented by its EVP for HR and Administration, Ms. Susan R. Quintans. Also present at the signing are the VP for External Relations and the International Affairs Office, Dr. Reynaldo Castro, and the Deans and representatives from CBAE, CEE, CASE, CHE, and CAE. Meanwhile, Atty. Roderick J. Reyes, Group VP for HR & Administration; Ms. Sherlyn R. Gonzales, Group AVP for HR & Administration; and Ms. Yancy R. Lim, Group Jr. HR Supervisor, also flew in from the BGC headquarters to attend the signing.

This partnership strongly aligns with SDG 17: Partnerships to Achieve the Goals. Academic-industry linkages like this are vital in ensuring that the future workforce is equipped with the skills, mindset, and experience needed to thrive in today’s fast-evolving sectors. Together, UM and UBI are paving the way for more impactful collaborations that benefit students, the industry, and the broader community.
UBI is one of the country’s top construction firms and prides itself on a staff of highly trained, qualified, and experienced engineers and professionals from various fields of discipline. It is also categorized by the Philippine Contractors Accreditation Board as a Quadruple A or “AAAA” contractor.
