UM Chorale Receives Gintong Parangal Award at Malacañang
The University of Mindanao Chorale achieved a monumental milestone on November 24, 2024, when they were honored with the prestigious Gintong Parangal 2024 at Malacañang Palace. The award was presented by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos in recognition of the chorale's exceptional victory as Grand Prix Champion at the Taipei International Choral Competition held in August 2024.
This recognition highlights the tremendous dedication, talent, and hard work of the UM Chorale, which continues to raise the standard of Filipino artistry. As part of the honor, the chorale was also awarded a ₱200,000 financial support in acknowledgment of their outstanding contribution to the cultural and musical landscape of the Philippines.
The UM Chorale, headed by their conductor Tim Atencio, along with the entire chorale roster, proudly received the prestigious Gintong Parangal Award at Malacañang, along with a ₱200,000 prize, in recognition of their outstanding achievement.
The Gintong Parangal, awarded to only the finest Filipino artists, celebrates the growing recognition of Filipino choral excellence on the global stage. The UM Chorale's victory at the international competition exemplifies the richness of Filipino talent and the choir's unwavering commitment to their craft.
The UM Chorale dedicated this achievement to their fellow Dabawenyos, Mindanaoans, and the entire University of Mindanao community.
