Third Platinum Award Affirms UM Leadership in Intellectual Property

Davao City, Philippines The University of Mindanao, through its Innovation and Technology Support Office (ITSO), has once again achieved a significant milestone after being conferred the 2025 Platinum Cluster Award for the third time during the ITSO Presidents’ Summit and General Assembly held in Iloilo City on March 25, 2026.

The ITSO Platinum Award, granted by the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL), recognizes institutions that demonstrate excellence in intellectual property education, including IP awareness, patent searching, and patent drafting.

This prestigious recognition underscores UM’s sustained excellence in innovation, intellectual property development, and technology commercialization. It reflects the University’s continued commitment to advancing research outputs and fostering a strong culture of intellectual property protection and utilization.

The award was received by Dyle Legaspi, UM ITSO Manager, whose leadership—together with the dedicated efforts of the ITSO team has been instrumental in maintaining the University’s outstanding performance in intellectual property initiatives.

The summit gathered ITSO leaders and representatives from higher education institutions nationwide, providing a platform for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and recognition of exemplary achievements in research and innovation.

Achieving the Platinum distinction for the third time highlights UM’s consistent leadership and excellence in the field of intellectual property and innovation, reinforcing its position as a key contributor to the country’s innovation ecosystem.
