TanUM Nano Tech Solutions Triumphs at 2025 Mindanao-Wide Technology Transfer Conference

BUTUAN CITY – Innovation once again took center stage as the University of Mindanao’s (UM) TanUM Nano Tech Solutions emerged victorious at the 2025 Mindanao-Wide Technology Transfer Conference hosted by Caraga State University (CSU).
The promising startup clinched 1st Place in the Pitching Competition and 2nd Place in the Poster Competition, marking a significant milestone not only for the team but also for UM, which proudly stood as the only private Higher Education Institution (HEI) represented in the summit.
TanUM Nano Tech Solutions presented a groundbreaking product designed for soil monitoring and fertilizer dosage recommendation, addressing critical agricultural needs through technology-driven, sustainable innovation. The team was led by its “hustler,” Marcy Nil Ogsoc, a Chemical Engineering student, along with the “hacker,” Windel Andan from Electronics and Communications Engineering, and the “hipster,” Aaron Jalapon from the Computer Science Program.

Their work was guided by advisers Engr. Ramiro Emerson Amon and Engr. Jetron Adtoon, with valuable support from Ms. Dyle Legaspi of UM’s Innovation and Technology Support Office (ITSO) and the UMasenso Hub.
The team’s success underscores UM’s commitment to SDG 4 - Quality Education through experiential learning and innovation-driven training; SDG 9 - Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure by promoting research-based technology; SDG 12 - Responsible Consumption and Production through efficient agricultural practice, SDG 13 - Climate Action by encouraging sustainable solutions for climate resilience; and SDG 17 Partnerships for the Goals through collaboration with institutions such as CSU and regional innovation networks.
This achievement further cements UM’s growing reputation as a hub of research, innovation, and entrepreneurship. By merging engineering expertise with real-world agricultural applications, TanUM Nano Tech Solutions exemplifies how student-led startups can advance sustainability, drive technological transformation, and create lasting impact in Mindanao and beyond.
