Six UM Programs Hurdle Through Level IV Reaccreditation

The 10 members of the PACUCOA accrediting team, headed by Dr. Esther Vedaña, were welcomed in AVR 2 on June 20, 2024.

Observing its long-running practice of quality assurance through accreditation, six programs of the university in the undergraduate and Professional Schools successfully presented their qualifications for the Level 4 Reaccreditation with accreditors from the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA).

The ten accreditors, led by the PACUCOA chairperson Dr. Esther Vedaña, were personally welcomed by the university president Dr. Guillermo P. Torres Jr. who recognized the long partnership of UM and PACUCOA in upholding the high standards of its operation as an educational institution.

Held last June 20 – 22, 2024, the PACUCOA accreditors were thorough in their assessment of the program objectives and outcomes, curriculum, faculty, and students of the following programs for reaccreditation: Accountancy, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Hospitality Management, Master of Arts in Education, and Master in Business Administration. All these programs were given recognition by PACUCOA for being the first to achieve such level of accreditation in Davao region.

Guests and program heads from different colleges and offices attended to witness another significant milestone for the university.

Dr. Vedaña also recognized the commitment of the University to quality assurance, through its President Dr. Torres, for its continuous submission to different quality assurance certifications. The upkeep of the campus, well-prepared evidences, and the achievements presented by the University are manifestations of its self-regulated quality assurance efforts. She further acknowledged that PACUCOA is proud of UM’s achievements.

For at least 8 years, UM has been acknowledged by PACUCOA as having the 2nd highest number of accredited programs in the country. For several times, UM also was given recognition by the agency for producing topnotchers in various licensure exams, and for having the most number of accredited programs in the country at various levels.
