SDG Summit 2.0 Unites UM Champions for Global Sustainability

Davao City, Philippines – In a continued effort to promote sustainable development and drive meaningful change, the University of Mindanao (UM) successfully hosted the SDG Summit 2.0 with the theme “Pushing Beyond the Walls: UM’s Commitment to SDGs” last August 12, 2025, at Cagliari Hall, UM Matina Campus. The event brought together SDG Champions from various university offices, reaffirming UM’s unwavering commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).
Building on the success of the first summit, SDG Summit 2.0 served as a dynamic platform for sharing best practices, strengthening collaboration, and reinforcing the university’s role in advancing global sustainability initiatives. The discussions emphasized the importance of collective action across academic, administrative, and operational sectors to create a lasting impact on all 17 SDGs.

Participants engaged in collaborative workshops, discussions, and presentations that showcased UM’s ongoing projects aligned with the SDGs. The summit also encouraged the development of new initiatives and innovations that can further embed sustainability into the university’s academic programs, research agenda, and community engagement efforts.
UM’s leadership reaffirmed its vision of being more than just a center of academic excellence but also a hub for transformative action and community-driven impact.

The SDG Summit 2.0 stands as another milestone in UM’s sustainability journey, inspiring its stakeholders to continue working toward a more inclusive, equitable, and sustainable world.
