Raising The Bar Once More as UM Shines at the 36th PACUCOA Awards

Davao City, Philippines - The University of Mindanao (UM) reaffirmed its long-standing commitment to academic excellence after securing major distinctions at the 36th Annual General Assembly Awards Ceremony of the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA).

UM sustained its status as a National Accreditation Leader, earning recognition as the university with the second-highest number of accredited programs nationwide. The institution also maintained its regional dominance, once again emerging as the higher education institution with the most accredited programs in Region XI, underscoring its consistent adherence to quality standards across Davao and the greater Mindanao area.

University officials attributed the sustained recognition to UM’s institutional policy of submitting all academic programs, across the Main Campus and its branches to PACUCOA accreditation, ensuring quality assurance in every aspect of academic delivery.

Beyond accreditation achievements, UM received special recognitions highlighting its academic impact and global standing. The University earned Licensure Examination Prowess awards for producing Top 1 passers in the Social Worker and Forester Licensure Examinations.

UM’s growing international profile was also acknowledged through commendations for its inclusion in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings. Further strengthening its global footprint, UM received certification confirming its inclusion in the expanded AppliedHE All Private University Ranking Asia, presented by Mandy Mok, Chief Executive Officer of AppliedHE.

In another milestone, UM was recognized as the first university in Region XI to secure a QS Stars (Quacquarelli Symonds) rating, marking a pioneering achievement in international quality benchmarking.

The awards and ranking certificates were formally received by the UM delegation led by Dr. Edgardo O. Castillo, Chief Administrative Officer.
