When Equations Meet Expressions

A masterful blend of art, architecture, and introspection unfolds at the new University of Mindanao (UM) Library as the College of Architecture and Fine Arts Education (CAFAE) proudly hosts

The exhibition, a striking convergence of creative and academic inquiry, offers a thought-provoking exploration of how artistic expression and architectural principles intertwine. Through his works, Banaag challenges conventional boundaries, inviting viewers into a world where form, space, and thought seamlessly merge.

UM CAFAE, known for its commitment to innovative research and design, recognizes Banaagโs exhibition as a pivotal event that reinforces the collegeโs role in pushing the frontiers of reflexive creative practices. The display not only showcases the artistโs mastery but also serves as a springboard for students and faculty to reimagine the intersection of design, culture, and scholarship.
Housed in the modern halls of the new UM Library, Tapestry of Thoughts is a fitting testament to the universityโs vision of fostering intellectual and artistic discourse. As students, educators, and art enthusiasts walk through the exhibit, they are invited to reflect on how ideas, much like a tapestry, are woven into the built environment and the human experience.
The solo exhibition is a landmark event in UM CAFAEโs efforts to cultivate a dynamic research culture within the creative disciplines. It underscores the collegeโs mission of not just producing artists and designers but also thought leaders who shape the future of their fields.

This activity corresponds with the SDG 4, Quality Education, SDG 9 Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, and SDG 17 Partnership for the Goals, upholding excellence through research and art and as well as fostering collaboration for the growth and development of the community.
With Tapestry of Thoughts, Ar. Fredinel Banaag has once again reaffirmed that architecture and art are not just about structures and aestheticsโthey are about ideas, emotions, and the intricate connections that bind them all together.
