Need Someone to Talk To? Discover UM’s Psychological First Aid Booth

Davao City, Philippines - In its continuing effort to promote student wellness and mental health awareness, the College of Arts and Sciences Education - Psychology Program spearheaded the Psychological First Aid (PFA) booth event held last at the UM LIC Lobby, from October 29-30, 2025.
The PFA Booth serves as a safe and welcoming space for students, faculty, and staff who may need someone to talk to or seek emotional support. Trained facilitators and volunteers are stationed at the booth to provide immediate psychological first aid, offering a listening ear, empathy, and guidance to anyone experiencing stress, anxiety, or emotional difficulties.

The initiative underscores UM’s commitment to fostering a caring and supportive campus environment where mental health is prioritized alongside academic success. By making mental health services more accessible, the PFA Booth encourages help-seeking behavior and promotes early intervention, both pivotal elements in maintaining emotional balance and overall well-being.
This effort aligns with SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being, which advocates for ensuring healthy lives and promoting mental well-being for all. Through programs like this, UM continues to create a holistic educational experience that nurtures not just intellectual growth but also emotional resilience and community care.
