Jefte Herbilla's Guarded Dream: From Campus Security to Registered Criminologist
Jefte Carl Herbilla, Registered Criminologist
Jefte Carl Herbilla, a security guard at the University of Mindanao, had a dream that went beyond his daily duties. While ensuring the safety of students and staff, he was also pursuing a degree in Criminology, determined to create a better future for his family. Balancing work, studies, and family life was a constant struggle, but Jefte's resolve remained unshaken.
In 2018, Jefte decided to transfer to the university's security team after discovering that a fellow student was also a guard on campus. This move allowed him to work and study in the same environment, with the support of his supervisors, who recognized his dedication. Despite the challenges, including missed classes and sleepless nights, Jefte knew his criminology degree was the key to achieving his goals.
After years of hard work, Jefte successfully passed the 2024 Criminology Licensure Examination (CLE). This marked the start of a new chapter in his life, where he could make a significant impact through his chosen field, widening his post beyond the educational institution to serve the people across the nation.
Jefte’s journey is a powerful example of perseverance and determination. From guarding the campus to achieving his dream, he proved that with hard work and support, even the most challenging goals can be accomplished.
