College of Teacher Education continually expands its expertise in pedagogy by conducting a professional extension activity with its alumni and other teachers at all levels on how to facilitate relevant lifelong learning as well as global citizenship in a plural and interconnected world. The webinar entitled “EDUCATION NEXUS: EMBRACING GLOBAL EVOLUTION of PEDAGOGY” was hosted by the ILUSSTRADO organization last June 11, 2024.

The guest speakers were alumni of the college. Mr Johnruf Niño Nuñala initiated the discussion with a compelling presentation on AI in education, highlighting the power of AI to revolutionize teaching methods, enhance educational outcomes, and support Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4). Demonstrations of AI-generated images underscored both the potential and ethical challenges. Platforms such as ChatGPT and Gemini were showcased as valuable tools to support educators while emphasizing the irreplaceable role of teachers in the educational process.

The second guest speaker, Ms. Arlene Laude, hailing all the way from New Mexico, USA, then addressed the significance of multicultural education. With the increasing diversity in classrooms, there is a pressing need for strategies that foster cultural awareness and inclusivity. Ms. Laude shared techniques for integrating students' interests and experiences into lessons, promoting diversity, and enhancing intercultural communication skills. Strategies like Critical Media Analysis and international pen pals were proposed to combat stereotypes and advance cultural understanding.
