Courtesy Visit Enhances UM–UNISKA Academic and Community Engagement

Davao City, Philippines  The University of Mindanao warmly welcomed a delegation from Islamic University of Muhammad Arsyad Al Banjari (UNISKA) during their courtesy visit held at the UM Matina Campus last February 10, 2026.

The visit served as a meaningful opportunity to reinforce institutional ties and deepen mutual understanding between the two universities. UNISKA, a partner institution of UM Tagum College (UMTC), is currently conducting lectures and community service initiatives as part of its academic engagement in the Philippines.

The delegation was received by UM officials led by Guillermo P. Torres Jr., President of UM, and Eugenio S. Guhao Jr., Chief Academic Officer. Accompanying the seven department heads from UNISKA were UMTC Branch Director Evelyn Saludes and Dean Gina Israel, along with two other UMTC personnel.

The engagement highlighted the institutions’ shared commitment to academic collaboration, faculty and student mobility, and cross-cultural exchange. Through dialogue and knowledge sharing, both universities explored expanded cooperation in teaching, research, and international programs — initiatives designed to benefit their respective academic communities and strengthen global connectivity.

This initiative supports the United Nations SDG 4 (Quality Education) by promoting inclusive and internationally enriched learning opportunities, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by deepening international collaboration and fostering strategic cross-border partnerships. Through sustained dialogue and shared programs, both institutions continue to build bridges that enhance educational quality and global engagement.
