College of Teacher Education Launches DEaR 2.0

The College of Teacher Education proudly initiated the Drop Everything and Research (DEaR) program, a bold initiative aimed at revitalizing the research culture within academic institutions by creating dedicated space and time for faculty members to focus exclusively on their research endeavors. On December 4, 2024, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm at the LIC Museum, New Matina Library, DEaR 2.0 was launched.

This program encourages a shift in priorities, placing research at the forefront of academic and institutional agendas by fostering a culture of innovation, enhancing productivity, and building collaborative networks. It was attended by 31 full-time regular and probationary faculty members from the college.

Dean Bacasmot honors our distinguished guest speakers—VP Acledan, Sir Panerio, and Dr. Cuizon—with certificates of appreciation for their invaluable contributions to the success of DEaR 2.0.

One of the highlights of DEaR 2.0 was an enlightening session led by Dr. Reynaldo O. Cuizon, who captivated the audience with profound insights into research methodologies, providing valuable tools for educators to refine their scholarly pursuits. Complementing this, Sir Conrado B. Panerio Jr. delivered a masterful re-orientation on institutional research, underscoring its pivotal role in driving educational progress.

Adding to the event's inspiration was VP Michelle Acledan, whose powerful message instilled a renewed sense of purpose and ambition in the participants. The day was further elevated by the unwavering support and visionary leadership of Dean Jocelyn Bacasmot, whose guidance has been instrumental in fostering a thriving research environment within the college.

The workshop’s centerpiece was the unveiling of 13 institutional research titles, each promising to push the boundaries of educational knowledge and practice. These titles reflect the faculty's creativity, expertise, and dedication to advancing the frontiers of research.

Engaged and inspired participants at the DEaR 2.0 seminar, showcasing their enthusiasm and commitment to advancing research and education.

The atmosphere throughout the workshop was electric, with animated discussions, breakthrough proposals, and collective enthusiasm for transforming the educational landscape. The participants showcased a shared vision of leveraging research not only as a tool for inquiry but as a pathway to shaping the future of education.

This event was only possible with the passion and expertise of the speakers, leaders, and faculty members who participated. As one participant noted, “We’re not just conducting research – we’re shaping the future of education!”

The DEaR 2.0 workshop showcases the College of Teacher Education’s commitment to academic excellence and innovation, paving the way for a brighter future in educational research. Aligned with SDG 4: Quality Education, the Drop Everything and Research (DEaR) program fosters a research-driven culture that enhances education, promotes innovation, and builds a foundation for lifelong learning and development.
