UM and UIC Host AUNQA Lecture Dialogue to Strengthen Institutional Assessment Readiness

Davao City, Philippines - Committed to strengthening its institutional quality assurance efforts, the University of Mindanao (UM), in partnership with the University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC), held the ASEAN University Network–Quality Assurance (AUNQA) Lecture Dialogue on December 11, 2025 at the Mini Auditorium, DPT Building, UM Matina Campus, featuring keynote speaker Dr. Tan Kay Chuan, Chief Quality Officer of the National University of Singapore and AUNQA Chief Expert and AUN Quality Master.
Titled Bridging Program Assessment to Institutional Assessment: Strategic Preparations and Pointers, Dr. Tan’s lecture gathered academic leaders and quality assurance officials to improve the university’s readiness for the AUNQA institutional and program assessment visits slated for 2026 and 2027.

Dr. Ronnie V. Amorado, Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and AUNQA Assessor, delivered the prologue remarks and rationale of the event before formally introducing Dr. Tan as the lecture dialogue speaker. In his discussion, Dr. Tan Kay Chuan highlighted how institutions can successfully integrate evidence, processes, and performance indicators across all levels to bridge program assessment with institutional assessment.
Dialogue segments were held after each part of his lecture, allowing participants to raise specific concerns and gather practical advice directly from the AUNQA expert.

Furthermore, the closing remarks were delivered by Dr. Jo-Anne Y. Salomon of UIC, Vice President for Planning and Quality Assurance and AUNQA Assessor, who underscored the shared responsibility of academic and administrative units throughout the assessment process. Faculty members, program heads, deans, assistant deans, convened during the lecture dialogue, as well as QMC members, selected HOOFs from key offices, and technical assistants handling AUNQA tasks.
