Ascending Borders: UM and Seibu Group of Companies Convene at Tokyo, Japan

UM and Seibu Group: Bridging Borders, Expanding Horizons.

Staying true to its vision of becoming a leading globally engaged university, the top-level delegates of the University of Mindanao engaged in a meeting with the top-level executives of the Seibu Group of Companies at Ikebukuro, Toshima-ku, Tokyo, Japan.

Held January 21 to 26, 2024, UM President/CEO Guillermo P. Torres, Jr. represented the University during the conference, while the Seibu Group was led by Mr. Atsushi Omori. Unconfined to any bounds when it comes to expanding the reach of opportunities for their students, the University strengthened its ties with the Seibu Group of Companies, which runs one of Japan’s largest hotel chains, the Seibu Group of Hotels Worldwide.

Captured in this moment: Mr. Atsushi Omori stands on the left, while UM President/CEO Guillermo P. Torres, Jr. on the right. A snapshot of collaboration and vision.

With the University’s unfailing determination to stretch its wings to ascend to higher heights and encompass limiting boundaries, the event aimed to invigorate international opportunities for UM students in the field of hospitality and engineering. Furthermore, UM students who are already deployed across various Seibu Hotels for their On-The-Job Training (OJT) were paid visit by the University officials during the Japan trip.

Through endeavors such as this, the institution further proves its commitment to quality education with a global perspective.
