Thinking of Enrolling in a Board Course at UM? Here's What You Should Know

Topnotchers, Incentives, and a University That Invests in Student Success

If you're planning to take a board course such as Nursing, Accountancy, Engineering, Teaching, or Real Estate, there’s one university you should strongly consider: the University of Mindanao. Here's why UM stands out from the rest.

On June 23, 2025, UM held its Incentive Awarding Ceremony to honor graduates who secured top spots in national licensure examinations during the first and second quarters of the year. More than a celebration, the event highlighted UM’s commitment to rewarding excellence with monetary incentives for each topnotcher.

Led by UM President Dr. Guillermo P. Torres, Jr., the awarding ceremony was a proud moment for the university. Parents, deans, and program heads joined the topnotchers during the event, underscoring the community effort behind each student’s success. UM also provided incentives to the colleges where these top performers came from, recognizing the vital role of faculty and academic units in shaping achievers.

Among the topnotchers recognized were Denise Marie Astillo, who placed Top 3, and Mea Meagan Wesley, who placed Top 10 in the April 2025 Real Estate Broker Licensure Examination.

For the May 2025 Nurse Licensure Examination, Marc Joshua Saranillo brought pride to the university by securing a Top 10 rank.

The March 2025 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers saw multiple topnotchers from UM’s provincial campuses. Leejane Cogollodo from UM Panabo College and Floyd Bandalan from UM Tagum College both ranked Top 2. Irene Fee Navea from UM Tagum College placed Top 3, while Ritchie Ace Bitang, also from UM Tagum, achieved Top 5. Norolshalah Guiamalodin of UM Digos College earned Top 8, and both Arnel Mamac and John Kenneth Masagca from UM Tagum College placed Top 9. Completing the list for the teachers' board exam was Jamaica Taypin from UM Digos College, who ranked Top 10.

In the May 2025 Certified Public Accountant Licensure Examination, Rica Mae Davis Marbebe achieved a Top 5 rank, while Jasper Gementiza Enumerables followed closely with a Top 8 finish.

These achievements speak volumes about the quality of education UM offers. With its strong academic programs, dedicated faculty, and a support system that celebrates every success, the university has created an environment where students are motivated to excel.

Choosing UM means choosing a university that not only prepares you for board exams but also rewards your success. With a growing list of topnotchers and a tradition of academic recognition, UM continues to prove that it is a place where excellence is not just encouraged—it is honored.

This initiative supports the university’s commitment to Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education, by promoting inclusive, equitable, and excellence-driven learning for all.
