45 CTE Students in Various Programs Presented Papers in ISWHD 2024

CTE students impress at 2nd International Conference on Social Wellbeing and Human Development.

Forty-five students from the English, Filipino, Math, SST, and BPE programs of the College of Teacher Education participated in the 2nd International Conference on Social Wellbeing and Human Development (ISWHD) on May 2, 2024. The conference, themed "Sustainable Solutions for Sustainable Futures of Social Wellbeing and Human Development," provided a platform for discussing innovative approaches to sustainability in social and educational contexts.

The event brought together student researchers, research advisors, and practitioners to share their work and insights on sustainable development. It emphasized integrating sustainable practices into education to promote long-term social and human development. The participation of these students highlights their commitment to addressing global challenges through education and research.

The event featured paper and poster presentations. Melcysa C. Peli, Shamxel Xandra T. De Castro, and Jalal C. Campong and Joey Oliveros as their research advisor were awarded 2nd place for their poster presentation for their research entitled “Development Of An Evaluation Tool On The Effectiveness Of Solid Waste Management Program: An Exploratory Factor Analysis. Meanwhile, Kevin James C. Cervantes, Mary Joy T. Pagasian, and Eric Dave A. Aparicio, with their research advisor Aileen Sinang, Ph.D., received the Best Presenter award for their study entitled “Commitment to Democratic Values and Conflict Management Among College of Teacher Education Students.

This engagement is part of the CTE's broader efforts to enhance research literacy and foster a culture of sustainability among future educators. The experience gained from attending such conferences is expected to enrich their academic and professional development, equipping them with the research knowledge and skills to contribute effectively to sustainable development goals in their future careers.
