2 UM Civil Engineering Students Represent Philippines at ISPC

Two students from the College of Engineering Education – Civil Engineering Program represented the Philippines at the 13th International Senior Project Conference (ISPC) 2025, held from June 4 to 6 at King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) in Bangkok, Thailand.

Organized by the Faculty of Engineering at KMUTT, the ISPC is an annual event that showcases the final-year projects of engineering students across Asia. The event fosters technical excellence, peer-to-peer learning, and cross-cultural exchange, creating meaningful opportunities aligned with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education. By encouraging innovation and collaborative research, ISPC actively supports access to inclusive, equitable, and high-quality education and lifelong learning for all.

This year’s conference featured 50 innovative projects from 11 universities across six countries—namely the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan, Japan, and Singapore—alongside entries from KMUTT’s own Faculty of Engineering, highlighting the region’s diversity in creativity and academic excellence.

Representing the University of Mindanao were Civil Engineering students Dinah Ross Degorio and Oliver Bariquit, Jr.

Degorio was awarded Best Presentation for her research titled “Seismic Evaluation of a Four-Storey Apartment Building in Matina, Davao City Using Nonlinear Dynamic Analysis in Accordance with ASCE 41-17.” Meanwhile, Oliver Bariquit, Jr. presented his study titled “Predictive Modeling of Construction Delays in Low- to Mid-Rise Buildings Using Artificial Neural Networks.”

Joining the delegation was Engr. Abo Yasser Manalindo, who also introduced the University of Mindanao to fellow participants and institutional representatives, further strengthening UM’s presence in the international academic community.

The University of Mindanao celebrates the achievements of its student researchers and faculty mentors, reaffirming its commitment to academic excellence and global engagement in the field of engineering.
