15 Malaysian Delegates Join UM for First-Ever Short-Term Cultural Exchange Program

Davao City, Philippines - Excitement and cultural pride filled the University of Mindanao as it welcomed 15 delegates from Universiti Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on September 22, 2025, for a short-term cultural exchange program that marks a milestone in UM’s internationalization efforts.
The delegation, composed of both students and faculty members, will take part in a week-long series of academic and cultural activities inside and outside the campus. The program is designed to foster mutual learning, cultural sharing, and lasting friendships, strengthening the bonds between the two universities.

Carrying the theme “Bridging Cultures, Bridging Futures,” the initiative underscores UM’s commitment to building international linkages and promoting cross-cultural understanding. It also reflects UM’s support for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4: Quality Education – by providing students and faculty with global learning opportunities that enhance cultural awareness, broaden academic perspectives, and strengthen competencies needed in today’s interconnected world and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals – by fostering collaboration between institutions across borders, demonstrating how universities can work together to promote mutual growth, knowledge exchange, and sustainable development.

As UM hosts its first-ever short-term cultural exchange program, the university maintain its role as a hub for global collaboration, quality education, and intercultural learning, preparing students to become future leaders in a diverse and global society.
