11 UM Faculty Earn Full Certification as Educators of Entrepreneurship

Davao City, Philippines – The UMasenso Hub, in partnership with the Wadhwani Foundation, successfully hosted “Cultivating Innovation: Faculty Certification in Entrepreneurship” on August 20, 2025, at the Research Hangar, TBI Working Area.
The event gathered passionate faculty members from UM Tagum, UM Digos, UM Panabo, UM Bansalan, and UM Peñaplata, who formally embarked on their journey to becoming certified educators in entrepreneurship. Under the guidance of Ms. Mary Rose Ofianga, Program Head Manager of the Wadhwani Foundation, participants engaged in intensive training sessions on module development, venture startup creation, and live demo teaching.

Following their dedication and hard work, 11 faculty members from UM Tagum proudly achieved the status of Fully Certified Educators of Entrepreneurship—a milestone that reflects their commitment to fostering innovation and entrepreneurial spirit in their respective campuses.
Established in August 2019 under the Higher Education Institution Readiness for Innovation and Technopreneurship (HEIRIT) program of the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD), the UMasenso Hub serves as the University of Mindanao’s official Technology Business Incubator (TBI). Today, it continues to thrive as a university-sustained platform that equips faculty and students with entrepreneurial knowledge and opportunities.

This initiative not only strengthens the university’s academic and research ecosystem but also advances the goals of SDG 4: Quality Education by enhancing faculty capacity; SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth by encouraging entrepreneurial ventures and job creation; and SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure by supporting startups and building sustainable innovation networks.
Through programs like these, UM reaffirms its commitment to continue empowering educators, nurturing innovation, and contributing to the nation’s inclusive economic growth.
